About the Artist
Lauren Johnson is a Chicago-based artist and museum professional. She works at the Field Museum of Natural History and aims to highlight the incredible science done in museums through a creative portfolio. Her artwork experiments with anatomical explorations that are inspired by flora, fauna, and abstract geologic scenery.
MUSEUM WORK
Lauren Johnson is the Assistant Collections Manager in the Mammals Department at the Field Museum of Natural History. She holds a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from Oklahoma University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Lauren has an in-depth knowledge of collection management, museum policy, and specimen digitization and preparation techniques. She oversees the extensive loan program of mammal material and trains volunteers and students in the collection. Johnson has a deep appreciation for the natural sciences and facilitates community outreach programs in the Chicago region to share the amazing work being done at the Field Museum.
